Jo and Doug GoughDoug and Jo Gough, the owners of Gough Agritech Ltd, also own a cropping farm and between them have many years of practical experience from which clients can benefit when it comes to putting the right combinations of equipment together. Both Doug and Jo are well aware of the on-going challenges faced by farmers and the grain-growing industry in particular, and frequently offer their input to both new and experienced growers alike.

Doug’s experience lies in many years of practical arable farming along with his tertiary agricultural qualifications and a love of farm machinery, both vintage and modern. His specialty area is crop drying which is a technical and very misunderstood subject and many farmers have been vastly enlightened by Doug’s knowledge on this topic.

Jo’s contribution comes in the form of an agricultural diploma from Lincoln University plus a number of years working in shipping, accounting and farm machinery importing which has positioned her perfectly to manage the administration side of Gough Agritech Ltd.

Both Doug and Jo contribute to the arable industry through their positions with F.A.R.’s Arable Research Group and Women in Arable committees, and they were both inaugural and repeat participants and later presenters in F.A.R.’s Taking Care of Business workshops which were then rolled out to F.A.R. growers nationwide. Jo is a member of the NZ Board of IAEA, the worldwide agricultural exchange programme for 18-30 year olds.

They have 2 children, Hamish and Laura (teenagers now !), who are learning about the machinery business, having travelled to Canada and Argentina with their parents to meet key suppliers and  get a first-hand look at the manufacturing plants. Over the years they have helped with hosting many overseas guests at their home property. Doug and Jo and their family also host an overseas agricultural student each year for between 6 and 8 months through ‘Agriventure’.
